Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India thousands of years ago, and it encompasses physical, mental, and spiritual disciplines. The word "yoga" comes from Sanskrit and means "to join" or "to unite," symbolizing the union of body and consciousness, as well as the connection between the individual self and the universal consciousness.
Physically, yoga involves performing a series of postures (asanas) and movements designed to increase strength, flexibility, and balance. These practices are often complemented by breathing exercises (pranayama) that enhance respiratory function and help control the energy flow within the body.
Mentally, yoga encourages mindfulness and concentration through meditation and relaxation techniques, which help calm the mind, reduce stress, and improve mental clarity and emotional well-being.
Spiritually, yoga can be a personal journey of self-discovery, promoting a deeper understanding of oneself and one's place in the universe. For some, it is a way of living that incorporates ethical principles, dietary guidelines, and a dedication to personal growth.

Primarily we learn about the pysichal body as it is easiest to relate to. Utilizing postures, different ways of “flowing” (vinyasa vs. hatha, vs. yin, ext..) and the breath to simply steady the body in hopes of steadying the mind.
Progressing further, meditation practices invite us inward, allowing us to touch the realms of silence and stillness that reside within. This inward turning is complemented by the practice of kriyas, which are purifying rituals designed to cleanse not only the physical vessel but also to illuminate the subtle energies that animate us.
Through consistent and thoughtful practice, we embark on a transformative journey, gaining insight into the layers of our subtle bodies. Each technique weaves into the next, guiding us along a path paved with increased awareness, clarity, and spiritual fortitude. With dedication, we not only clear and invigorate these layers but also begin to experience the profound interconnectedness of our entire being—revealing the wholeness that is both our origin and our destination.
